Facing a Problem?

Signs Your Sliding Glass Door Needs Attention

Older sliding glass doors often develop problems that go beyond simple annoyance. A door that sticks or drags on its track can signal worn rollers, a bent frame, or foundation settling, and ignoring it usually makes the issue worse over time. Drafts around the frame or condensation between glass panes point to failing seals, which drive up energy bills and let humidity into your home, a real concern in our Gulf Coast climate.

Storm damage is another common issue we see throughout Cantonment and Escambia County. High winds, flying debris, and heavy rain during hurricane season can crack glass, warp frames, or compromise a door's ability to seal properly against water intrusion. A damaged or outdated sliding door also weakens your home's security and curb appeal, leaving your family and belongings more exposed than they should be.

Whatever the issue, addressing it sooner helps protect your home's comfort, security, and energy efficiency for the long run.

The representative for Cantonment Windows, Carl Broussard that came to our home for a free quote made me feel like I was talking with a friend. Very respectful and thorough when explaining the process and any questions that I had. Carl had a quote in hours. He called to discussed with my husband and I and patiently answered the rest of our questions. I was pleasantly surprised at the quote that we got for less then we feared and we added gutters to the mix. Not to mention the upgraded shingles and underlining we decided on. Carl has helped a very stressful situation be as easy as it could have ever gone. He made me feel 100% confident that I was in the best hands.
      Robin Norris
We contacted Cantonment Windows to replace our roof. From the appraisal to the completed job,we could not have asked for a better experience. The project manager Jack Floyd made sure he checked on us throughout the day to make sure that everything was going according to plan. The crew were phenomenal, they worked their tail off. They were very polite and courteous. They did a great job of not only replacing the roof but clearing the ground and clean up again. The job was supposed to take 2 days. The crew worked nonstop and finished in 1 day. I Would highly recommend this company to anyone else.
      Mally Hartenstein
I chose Cantonment Windows bc the salesman was very knowledgeable. He was the ONLY one who pointed out that the small addition on our house needed a different type of roofing material due to its lower pitch. We had at least 4 other companies come out and not one other mentioned that but it of course makes perfect sense! I was also thoroughly impressed w the materials they used like “bullet boots” and he was also the only salesman that talked to me about the drip edge colors and how they can accentuate the look of the house. Chuck Peterson was our site supervisor and he was very good with communication. He kept me informed of progress and any changes necessary. The crew was proficient and did a good job cleaning up. Overall I was very satisfied with Cantonment Windows.
      Dawn Johnson
I am so happy I chose Cantonment Windows. The crew was quick and efficient. Chuck made sure I understood the process and alerted me to any developments. I appreciated the care that I received starting with the sales process where James walked me through the details. My roof looks great and I feel well taken care of.
      David Jacob
I recently had my roof reshingled using Cantonment Windows. The process was smooth and simple, from start to finish. The workers were fast and efficient. Chuck and Kevin did a great job overseeing the project. Thank you for your hard work.
      Kevin Stead
We are extremely pleased with our roofing project replacing our roof from Hurricane Sally damage. A special thanks to James Dare for taking the time to answer all of our questions and to give expert advice in planning our project. Also, to Jack Floyd and his crew for taking the time to do the job right and turn out a quality project. The roof looks great and the solar attic ventilation will be a great asset. Thank you, Cantonment Windows.
      John Weyler
Amazing experience from start to finish Carl, which was the salesman that came out to my home was exceptional. Very nice and knowledgeable and to the point. He conducted business exactly how I wanted it. Not pushy, just the facts. Al (QC) was another exceptional person from Cantonment Windows. He was very thorough in the entire process, kept me informed of everything. The Gaston crew was very efficient and worked hard for 2 days. After the roof was completed, the job site was cleaned as if no one was ever there. Nice job.
      David White
From the start, sales man John Hoyt to the crew and the supervisor chuck Peterson done a great job. From making the sale to having the roof installed only took about two weeks. I highly recommend this company and ask for these two employees!!!
      John Lutz
I needed a new roof for my home and shop. John came out and gave me different roofing options and explained the process. Paperwork was conveniently signed online. When Kevin showed up with his crew, he managed the entire operation and posted photos of entire job in real time to a portal that I could view. Kevin contacted me by phone when questions arose. The crew was very professional and attention to detail was great. When the job was done, every bit of old roofing and nails were carted off. Outstanding job. Good communication. I highly recommend t Cantonment Windows.
      Teresa Morton

Carl was very knowledgeable in describing the advanced products used by Cantonment Windows. I would recommend them to anyone needing a reroof or gutters. The roofers started before sun rise and finished in one day. They worked fast but lived up to the Quality name. The new roof looks great. Anyone who needs a roof in this area should get Quality.

      Frequently Asked Questions

      Sliding Glass Door FAQs

Replacing or installing a sliding glass door raises plenty of questions, especially for homeowners dealing with Florida's coastal weather. Below, our team answers some of the questions we hear most often from Cantonment homeowners.

A standard sliding glass door uses regular glass and framing, while an impact-rated door is built with laminated glass and reinforced framing designed to resist high winds and flying debris. Impact-rated doors also meet Florida's building codes for storm protection, making them a smart choice for homes along the Gulf Coast that regularly face tropical weather.
Yes. Older sliding doors often have worn seals, single-pane glass, or gaps that let conditioned air escape, forcing your HVAC system to work harder. A new, properly installed door with insulated glass and tight weatherstripping helps keep your indoor temperature stable, which can noticeably ease the strain on your cooling system during Florida's hot, humid months.
If your door sticks, wobbles, or has visible frame damage, a repair may resolve the issue. When you notice persistent drafts, foggy glass from failed seals, water intrusion, or storm damage to the frame itself, replacement typically offers the more reliable long-term solution. Our team can inspect your current door and provide an honest recommendation based on its condition.
An impact-rated sliding glass door is specifically designed to resist wind pressure and debris impact during severe storms, helping protect your home's interior from wind and water damage. Upgrading to a storm-rated door significantly reduces the risk to your home compared to relying on an older, standard sliding door.
Sliding glass doors are commonly framed in either vinyl or aluminum. Vinyl framing resists corrosion and requires little maintenance, which makes it popular in coastal climates. Aluminum framing is known for its strength and slim profile, offering a more contemporary look. Our team can help you decide which material best fits your home's style and your priorities for durability and upkeep.
We recommend having a homeowner or another adult present during installation, especially at the start and end of the project, so our team can walk through the details with you and address any questions on site. This also gives you the chance to see the door in action and confirm everything operates smoothly before we finish up.
